Read on to find out how Carybit could be the solution you’ve been searching for to revolutionize your contracting business.

What Exactly is Carybit? Unveiling the Lead Configurator for Contractors

You’ve heard of lead generation tools, but have you ever encountered a lead configurator? Unlike traditional lead generation tools that merely collect contact information, a lead configurator like Carybit goes several steps further. It engages with your website visitors, asking targeted questions to understand their specific needs and preferences. This allows you to not only capture leads but also qualify them, ensuring you’re spending time on prospects who are genuinely interested in your services.

What Sets Carybit Apart?

The uniqueness of Carybit lies in its ability to transform vague website visits into actionable leads. While other tools might give you a list of emails, Carybit provides a comprehensive profile of each lead, including their project requirements, budget, and even preferred time for a consultation. This level of detail enables you to tailor your follow-up strategy, increasing the likelihood of conversion. And let’s not forget Carybit’s bold guarantee: “If you don’t profit, you don’t pay.” This assurance makes Carybit a risk-free investment for contractors looking to up their lead generation game.

The Carybit Guarantee—A Game-Changer for Contractors

“If You Don’t Profit, You Don’t Pay”: What Does It Mean?

In a world where many companies make lofty promises, Carybit’s guarantee stands out: “If you don’t profit, you don’t pay.” This isn’t just a catchy slogan; it’s a testament to the confidence Carybit has in its lead configurator tool. The guarantee is simple yet powerful. If you, as a contractor, don’t see a tangible increase in quality leads that convert to profitable projects, you won’t have to pay for the service.

Why This Guarantee Matters for Contractors

This no-risk assurance is a game-changer for contractors. It eliminates the financial risk of trying out a new lead generation tool. More importantly, it reflects Carybit’s commitment to delivering real, measurable results. The company is putting its money where its mouth is, which speaks volumes about their tool’s effectiveness. For contractors, this means you can focus on what you do best—building and renovating—while Carybit brings in leads that actually convert.

The Four Pillars of Carybit’s Success—Why Contractors Should Take Notice

Transform Your Website into a Lead-Generating Powerhouse

The first and most immediate benefit of using Carybit is the sheer increase in the number of leads you can generate. Integrating this lead configurator into your website essentially turns your online presence into a 24/7 salesperson. This means more opportunities for contractors to bid on projects and expand your business.

Quality Over Quantity: High-Caliber Leads that Convert

While having a large number of leads is excellent, the quality of those leads is equally important. Carybit excels in this area by attracting leads that are not just numerous but also highly targeted and more likely to convert. This is crucial for contractors who don’t want to waste time on leads that won’t turn into profitable projects.

Time is Money: Streamline Your Operations

Carybit isn’t just about lead generation; it’s also about efficiency. The tool streamlines your operations by automating the initial stages of customer interaction, freeing up invaluable time for you and your team. For contractors, this means more time to focus on the actual work—construction, renovation, or client meetings.

Elevate the Customer Experience

Lastly, Carybit enhances the customer experience by providing immediate, tailored responses to potential clients. This level of personalization and efficiency impresses first-time visitors and encourages repeat business. For contractors, a satisfied customer is often a repeat customer, and Carybit helps you make a lasting impression.

How a New Website Generates More Leads for Contractors in the Skilled Trades

The skilled trades industry – is an amalgamation of craftsmanship, expertise, and hard work. Whether it’s home improvements, repairs, or building projects, the contractors in this industry are the backbone of the physical world we live in. However, having expert skills isn’t always enough in the digital age. This is where the significance of a robust online presence comes into play.

In today’s digital-driven world, the internet is often the first place people turn to when looking for home improvement services. From electricians to roofers and general contractors, having a strong online presence is paramount to tap into the reservoir of potential customers. Here’s the kicker – 90.63% of all pages receive zero traffic from Google. So how do contractors avoid being part of this statistic? The answer lies in an effective website that is the bedrock for all online marketing efforts. This foundation is critical in generating home improvement leads and ensures that your name stands tall when someone searches for contractors.

The Power of First Impressions

The Importance of Website Design in Creating a Professional Image

They say first impressions are lasting impressions, and your website is no exception. When potential customers land on your site, they enter your virtual storefront. A well-designed, modern website gives your business the professional image it needs to attract those invaluable home improvement contractor leads.

How a Modern and User-Friendly Website Engages Potential Customers

User experience is paramount. A modern website that is easy to navigate and resonates with your audience will keep them engaged longer. With content that speaks to the needs of your potential customers and intuitive navigation, you are setting yourself up for success. This is how you can generate exclusive home improvement leads genuinely interested in your offer.

Case Study: A Contractor Who Transformed Their Image Through a Website Redesign

Let’s take a real-world example – Best Choice Construction. They were skilled craftsmen, yet their leads were dwindling. Their website was outdated, and they had virtually no online presence. After collaborating with Bartholomew Media Group, specializing in skilled trades, they launched a new site. With a clean design, portfolio of past projects, and easy-to-find contact information, they did more than build a website; they built trust.

The result? An increase in leads for home improvement projects and a significant boost in customer engagement and conversion rates. Their website reflected not only their craftsmanship but also their commitment to serving their clients’ needs.

In conclusion, your website’s first impression can either build or break your chances of securing those precious leads. Investing in a modern, user-friendly website is an investment in your business’s future.

The Nuts and Bolts of SEO for Contractors

Introduction to Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for the Skilled Trades

We’ve laid the foundation with an excellent website, but how do we ensure people find it? Enter the realm of Search Engine Optimization or SEO. For contractors, this toolbox helps your website rank higher in search engine results. Imagine a homeowner needing roof repair typing in “home repair companies” or “local roofers” – SEO ensures that your website is one of the first they see.

How SEO Helps Contractors to Be Found by Potential Local Customers

Local SEO is like the trusty tool belt for contractors – it keeps everything in place. By optimizing your website for local searches, you ensure that your services are visible to people in your area. This means when someone searches for, let’s say, “electricians near me,” your website is more likely to pop up. This is how to get home improvement leads from people who are actively looking for your services.

The Importance of Mobile Responsiveness in Reaching Customers on-the-go

Did you know that over 60 percent of all online searches are on a mobile device? That’s right; your potential clients are likely searching for your services while on the move. A mobile-responsive website ensures your site looks great and functions perfectly on all devices. This ensures that when someone finds your site on their phone, they don’t bounce off because it’s too difficult to navigate.

Leveraging Content to Establish Authority

The Role of Blogs and Articles in Demonstrating Expertise

A craftsman is known for their knowledge and skill; this should also reflect on your website. Blogs and articles are the workbenches where you showcase this knowledge. Writing insightful pieces on home improvement, DIY tips, or explaining different materials helps in home improvement lead generation and establishes you as an authority in the field.

How Content Marketing Generates Leads by Providing Value to the Audience

Content is king; this is true in the world of skilled trades too. You’re building trust and rapport with potential clients by offering valuable content. They see that you know your stuff and are willing to share valuable insights. This trust is crucial when deciding whom to hire for their home improvement projects. In other words, you’re not just hammering in nails but building relationships.

Using Project Showcases to Give Potential Clients an Insight into Your Craftsmanship

Seeing is believing. Create a portfolio or project showcase to display your craftsmanship and completed projects on your website. This allows potential clients to know the quality of your work and imagine what you can do for their own homes. It’s a visual and engaging way to generate more home improvement sales leads.

Combine this with customer testimonials, and you’ve got yourself a powerful combination that highlights both the quality of your work and the satisfaction of your previous clients.

Tools of Engagement: Website Features that Capture Leads

Online Quote and Contact Forms as Lead Capture Tools

Just like a tape measure is essential for precision in construction, online quotes and contact forms are crucial for precisely capturing leads. These forms enable potential clients to reach out easily, providing you with the essential information you need to get the ball rolling. This means fewer barriers between you and those coveted exclusive home improvement leads.

The Use of Testimonials and Reviews for Building Trust

Imagine a friend recommending a specific tool or brand; you’re more likely to trust that recommendation, right? The same goes for testimonials and reviews. You’re giving your potential clients word-of-mouth assurance by showcasing real feedback from happy clients. This is especially important in the skilled trades, where trust and quality are the cornerstones of successful projects.

Interactive Features (e.g., Cost Calculators, Virtual Consultations) That Engage Visitors

Interactive features like cost calculators or virtual consultations are like the state-of-the-art power tools in your website’s arsenal. A cost calculator helps prospects understand budgeting, while virtual consultations allow personalized interaction without needing a physical meeting. These features engage visitors, keep them on your site longer, and often lead them to take the next step toward hiring you.

Marketing Integration: A Holistic Approach

The Importance of Integrating Your Website with Social Media

A tradesman wouldn’t just use a hammer; they’d have a whole toolbox. Similarly, don’t just rely on your website – integrate it with social media. Share your content, showcase projects, and engage with your audience on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Google Business Profile. This gives you more avenues to generate home improvement contractor leads and builds a community around your brand.

How Email Marketing Can Be Utilized to Follow Up with Leads

Think of email marketing as the follow-up phone call after giving a quote. It’s a chance to keep the conversation going. By nurturing leads through regular emails – whether it be newsletters, promotions, or project updates – you stay on the radar and keep your prospects engaged until they’re ready to pull the trigger.

Utilizing Analytics to Track Website Performance and Adjust Strategies

Lastly, measuring your efforts is important, much like measuring materials in a project. Use analytics tools to track your website’s performance. See what’s working and what’s not. This data is invaluable in adjusting your strategies for better results. After all, a smart contractor builds and constantly looks for ways to build better.

Common Pitfalls and How to Avoid Them

Understanding the Common Mistakes Contractors Make with Their Websites

Many contractors in the skilled trades treat their websites like a rusty old tool – not giving it the attention it deserves. They may use outdated designs, ignore mobile responsiveness, or fail to provide clear contact information. These mistakes can make generating those sought-after home repair leads or home improvement sales leads tough.

Best Practices to Ensure That Your Website Remains an Effective Lead Generation Tool

To keep your website sharp and effective:

Think of it as a constantly evolving project.

Stay up-to-date with best practices like keeping your website design fresh, optimizing for search engines, and regularly adding valuable content.

Remember to include clear calls to action, such as “Request a Quote,” and ensure your contact information is easily accessible.

This way, your website remains a trusty companion in your lead generation toolkit.

The Future of Contractor Websites

Emerging Trends in Web Design and Online Marketing for Contractors

In the construction realm, new materials and methods are always emerging. Similarly, in the digital world, there are always new trends. Virtual and augmented reality tools are becoming more common, allowing customers to visualize projects in real time. Chatbots can provide instant customer service. Plus, local SEO and voice search optimization are becoming increasingly important in being found by those free home improvement leads.

How Contractors Can Stay Ahead by Adapting to Changes in Technology and Consumer Behavior

Staying ahead of the curve requires adaptation, like how a skilled tradesman learns to work with new materials or tools. Keep an eye on emerging trends and consider how they can be applied to your business. Listen to your customers and understand how their behavior is changing. They may be using voice search more often, or they may be looking for more sustainable materials. By adapting your website and marketing strategy to these changes, you ensure that your online presence continues to be a powerful lead-generating machine for your contractor business.

Laying the Final Brick: Cementing Online Success

In the bustling construction industry, building a solid foundation online is as critical as laying the groundwork on a construction site. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the bedrock of your online presence, helping you break new ground in the digital landscape. This article is your blueprint for effectively harnessing SEO to strengthen your contractor website, generate qualified leads, and, ultimately, erect a towering online presence.

Keyword Research

Using the right tools and materials for the job is essential in the construction industry. The same goes for SEO, where keyword research is your fundamental building block.

A. Tools for keyword research: Equip yourself with robust tools such as Google Keyword Planner, SEMrush, or Ahrefs to excavate relevant keywords and phrases for your contracting business.

B. Identifying relevant long-tail keywords: Focus on long-tail keywords specific to your construction services and geographical location. This strategy is like using precision instruments to ensure the finest results.

C. Analyzing competitor keyword strategies: Investigate the scaffolding of your competitors’ keyword strategies to find any structural weaknesses you can capitalize on.

On-Page SEO

On-page SEO is like fine-tuning the architectural elements of a building. This process includes optimizing title tags, meta descriptions, and content to ensure your website stands tall in search engine results.

A. Optimizing title tags and meta descriptions: Create riveting title tags and meta descriptions that incorporate keywords and resonate with industry clients.

B. URL structure and formatting: Ensure your URLs are structured like a well-laid blueprint, clear and concise, with relevant keywords.

C. Heading tags and content hierarchy: Use heading tags (H1, H2, H3, etc.) to establish content hierarchy, akin to planning the different levels of a building.

D. Image optimization: Optimize images like you would optimize a floor plan – compress them for efficiency, use descriptive file names, and include alt tags with keywords.

E. Internal linking strategies: Create a web of internal links to fortify your website’s structure.

Content Creation

Quality content is concrete that binds your SEO efforts together.

A. Writing for your audience: Draft content that addresses the pain points of construction professionals and offers insights into the latest building materials, construction methodologies, and industry regulations.

B. Keyword optimization: Incorporate targeted keywords naturally, akin to seamlessly integrating new elements into an existing structure.

C. Content calendar: Develop a content calendar like a construction project timeline to ensure regular updates.

D. Content formats: Experiment with different content formats, such as tutorials on construction techniques, case studies of successful projects, and video walkthroughs of your services.

Local SEO

Local SEO is akin to being the go-to contractor in a neighborhood.

A. Google My Business: Lay the cornerstone of your local online presence by creating and optimizing your Google My Business profile with accurate information and project photos.

B. Local citations and directories: List your contracting business in local directories, ensuring that your NAP (Name, Address, Phone) information stands uniform across all platforms, like a consistent brand logo.

C. Online reviews: Encourage satisfied clients to leave reviews on platforms like Google and Houzz and address any concerns as if handling a project hiccup gracefully and professionally.

D. Local keywords: Infuse location-specific keywords into your website content and meta tags, emphasizing your community involvement and local expertise.

VI. Off-Page SEO

Off-page SEO is akin to your industry reputation, and building links is like receiving endorsements from industry peers.

A. Building high-quality backlinks: Forge partnerships with suppliers, trade associations, and local businesses to secure valuable backlinks.

B. Managing your backlink profile: Regularly monitor your backlink profile to ensure it remains as sturdy as a steel framework.

Technical SEO

Technical SEO ensures that your website is structured like a well-engineered building.

A. Mobile-friendly design: Your website should be responsive and seamless on mobile devices – think of it as building an accessible facility.

B. Loading speed: Optimize your website’s loading speed, ensuring your online visitors don’t face delays, much like timely construction project completion.

C. Website structure: Implement XML sitemaps and robots.txt files to guide search engines through your website like an expertly designed site plan.

D. Security: Fortify your website by switching to HTTPS, ensuring data integrity and adhering to safety standards on the construction site.

Measuring and Monitoring

Just as you would monitor a construction project’s progress, keeping tabs on your SEO efforts is essential.

A. Google Analytics: Utilize Google Analytics like a project dashboard to monitor website traffic, user behavior, and conversions.

B. Keyword ranking tools: Monitor the rankings of your targeted keywords like you would keep an eye on supply levels.

C. Google Search Console: Like your site inspector, this tool provides alerts and insights regarding your website’s performance.

A rock-solid SEO strategy is vital to erecting a towering online presence in the competitive construction industry. Utilizing these SEO best practices can lay a sturdy foundation for your contractor website and build a pathway to online success and business growth. As your architects in the digital landscape, we offer expert SEO services to elevate your contracting business. Contact us to hammer out a strategy tailored to your construction enterprise.

The Impact of Digital Technology on Skilled Trades

Digital innovation is weaving its transformative thread through the fabric of various skilled trades. It’s breaking down barriers, expanding opportunities, and reinventing traditional modes of operation. Let’s take a closer look at how digital technology is having a substantial impact across multiple trades.

Roofers: Roofing companies have started utilizing digital tools for project visualization, customer interaction, and online booking.
Landscapers: Advanced design software allows landscapers to present detailed and visually appealing project previews to clients. Landscaping businesses also leverage social media platforms to showcase their work, and online booking tools make it easier for clients to request and schedule services.

Masons and Luxury Home Builders: These sectors employ cutting-edge technology like virtual reality to provide immersive tours of finished projects or proposed designs. Website portfolios, customer testimonials, and robust online marketing strategies are also pivotal in attracting high-end clientele.

The Impact of Digital Technology on Skilled Trades

The impact of digital technology is being felt across various trades, revolutionizing how businesses operate and interact with their customers. To better illustrate this, let’s look at two case studies where digital transformation has yielded significant results.

Our first case involves Ech Electric, an electricians’ company aiming to improve its online visibility. Their goal was to appear on the first page of search engine results, which they understood to be critical in attracting potential customers.

Bartholomew Media Group was tasked with achieving this goal from scratch. We started by designing a user-friendly website with content specifically designed to encourage visitors to take action. We then began publishing regular blog articles and updating content weekly. Concurrently, we built local citations to further improve the site’s search engine ranking.

The results were astounding. Within just four months, we achieved the primary goal of getting Ech Electric onto the first page of search engine results. And by the sixth month, we had three keywords on the first page of a Google search. This transformation significantly boosted the company’s online visibility, substantially increasing potential customer inquiries.

Our second case study involves BluRoof, a new roofing company based in Atlanta, GA. The company required a brand-focused, user-friendly website that would draw in customers and direct them toward taking action.

Once again, Bartholomew Media Group was brought in to bring this vision to life. We built an inviting website that featured clear Calls To Action (CTAs) to guide customers. We built out service pages with regular content updates to further boost SEO. On-page SEO tactics were rigorously applied, including writing appropriate metadata and correctly nesting H-tags.

The outcome was a significant improvement in online visibility. Within three months of launching the website, BluRoof got over 2,000 monthly impressions. This significantly improved their customer reach and ultimately boosted their business growth.

These case studies underline the transformative impact that digital innovation can have on businesses in the skilled trades sector. By embracing digital technology, companies like Ech Electric and BluRoof have enhanced their online presence, engaged more effectively with potential customers, and ultimately driven significant growth.

These are just a few examples of how embracing digital innovation can significantly benefit skilled trade businesses. The shift may seem daunting, but as these case studies demonstrate, the return on investment can be remarkable.

Key Trends Driving Digital Innovation in Skilled Trades

As we dive deeper into the digital revolution in the skilled trades industry, several key trends are shaping how businesses operate and interact with their customers. These trends drive a shift towards digital-first approaches that meet today’s consumers’ evolving needs and preferences.

Online Visibility and SEO: Being visible online is no longer optional – it’s crucial for businesses that want to attract new customers. By implementing search engine optimization (SEO) strategies, companies can improve their rankings on search engines, making it easier for potential customers to discover their services. The result is increased visibility, often leading to higher customer inquiries and business growth.

User-friendly Web Design: A website is the digital storefront of a business. This space must be intuitive, user-friendly, and visually appealing to attract and retain potential customers. Websites designed with the user in mind drive higher engagement and convert visitors into customers more effectively.

Online Appointment Booking: In our fast-paced, convenience-driven world, online appointment booking systems can significantly enhance the customer experience. They allow customers to schedule appointments at their convenience, reducing the need for phone calls and administrative work for the business. This digital tool often leads to higher customer satisfaction rates and increased repeat business.

Social Media and Online Marketing: Social media platforms offer businesses a powerful way to reach and engage with potential customers. Social media can dramatically increase a business’s visibility and customer base when paired with a strategic online marketing plan. Regular updates, showcasing work, responding to customer comments, and running targeted ad campaigns are just a few ways businesses can leverage these platforms.

Mobile-first Approach: With nearly 60 percent of all online searches now conducted on a mobile device, a mobile-first approach is more critical than ever. This means ensuring that websites are mobile-friendly, with responsive designs that adapt to different screen sizes. Businesses that optimize their websites for mobile users can reach a wider audience and offer a seamless user experience – a critical factor in driving customer engagement and conversions in today’s digital era.

By embracing these key trends, skilled trades businesses can stay competitive, reach a broader customer base, and drive growth in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. These trends underscore the reality that digital innovation isn’t an optional extra – it’s necessary for businesses that want to thrive in the modern world.

Overcoming Barriers to Digital Adoption

Despite the clear benefits of digital innovation, many businesses in the skilled trades industry face challenges in adopting these new technologies. The most common barriers often include a need for more technical knowledge, resistance to change, and concerns about cost and return on investment.

Lack of technical knowledge: For many skilled trades businesses, especially smaller ones, the world of digital technology can seem overwhelming. Without in-house tech expertise, the prospect of designing a website, implementing SEO, or managing a social media strategy may feel daunting.

Resistance to change: The skilled trades industry is traditionally hands-on and often relies on established working methods. Some businesses may resist moving away from these familiar processes towards a seemingly complex digital landscape.

Cost and ROI concerns: The perceived cost of digital transformation can be a significant deterrent for many businesses. Concerns about whether the investment will yield a tangible return can further exacerbate these apprehensions.

Despite these challenges, there are practical strategies for overcoming these barriers:

Seek expert help: Businesses do not need to navigate the digital landscape alone. Partnering with a digital solutions provider like Bartholomew Media Group can help bridge the knowledge gap, providing expertise in website design, SEO, online marketing, and more.

Incremental changes: Instead of a complete overhaul, businesses can opt for a gradual approach, implementing digital changes one step at a time. This approach allows for adjustment and learning at a manageable pace.

Training and Education: Regular training sessions can help demystify digital technology, giving businesses the confidence to embrace these tools. Education about the potential return on investment can also help alleviate concerns about cost.

Highlight success stories: Sharing case studies of businesses that have successfully adopted digital innovation can provide reassurance and inspiration for those considering this transition. Seeing tangible benefits experienced by others in the same industry can be a powerful motivator for change.

By recognizing these barriers and actively working to overcome them, skilled trades businesses can make the transition to digital a less daunting and more rewarding journey. The challenges are real, but they can be effectively managed with the right strategies and support, paving the way for digital success.

The Future of Digital Innovation in Skilled Trades

As a construction business owner, you know the industry is fiercely competitive. To stand out from the competition, you must employ effective marketing strategies that help you create brand awareness, generate leads, and grow your business. Drawing from extensive experience in both the construction and digital marketing industries, we have compiled a comprehensive guide that covers ten key strategies for successful construction marketing.

Leveraging Industry Partnerships

Collaborate with architects, designers, and suppliers to create mutually beneficial partnerships. Co-marketing opportunities with complementary businesses can help you pool resources, expand your reach, and enhance credibility. Attend industry events and network with other professionals to establish connections that can lead to valuable partnerships.

Example: Partner with a local architectural firm to offer joint design-build services. Your construction company and the architectural firm can benefit from each other’s expertise and client base, leading to more business opportunities and increased credibility in the market.

Content Marketing Ideas

Provide value to your audience by sharing project progress updates, behind-the-scenes insights, and educational content that helps clients make informed decisions. Develop blog posts, videos, and infographics that showcase your expertise, and host webinars or live Q&A sessions on relevant industry topics. Consistently sharing valuable content will position your construction business as a thought leader in the industry.

Example:

Publish a series of blog posts on the different stages of a home renovation project.

Provide valuable insights, tips, and best practices for each step, from initial planning and budgeting to final inspections and project completion.

Share these blog posts on social media platforms to reach a wider audience and establish your company as a go-to source for home renovation advice.

Local SEO for Construction Companies

Optimize your online presence for local search to make it easier for potential clients to find you. Claim and optimize your Google Business Profile listing, ensuring your contact information, hours, and services are accurate and up-to-date. Gather local citations by listing your business in relevant directories.

Example: Create a detailed Google Business Profile listing for your construction company, complete with high-quality images of your completed projects, a description of your services, and your contact information. Encourage satisfied clients to leave reviews on your listing, which will help improve your local search rankings and make your business more visible to potential clients in your area.

Utilizing Video Marketing

Create engaging and informative videos that showcase your projects, expertise, and company culture. Use video content to demonstrate your construction processes, highlight client testimonials, and offer insights into industry trends. Share videos on social media platforms and your website, and optimize them for search engines to maximize visibility.

Example: Produce a series of time-lapse videos that showcase the progression of a project from start to finish. Share these videos on your company’s YouTube channel and social media platforms, along with informative captions and relevant hashtags, to engage your audience and demonstrate your expertise.

Social Media Advertising

Run targeted advertising campaigns on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn to reach potential clients. Create eye-catching visuals and compelling ad copy that highlights your unique selling points. Monitor ad performance and make data-driven decisions to optimize campaigns for maximum return on investment.

Example: Run a Facebook Ads campaign targeting homeowners in your service area who have recently expressed interest in home renovation or remodeling. Use eye-catching images of your completed projects and a compelling call-to-action, directing users to a landing page where they can request a free consultation.

Influencer Marketing in the Construction Industry

Partner with industry influencers to gain exposure and credibility for your construction business. Identify influencers whose audiences align with your target market, and collaborate on content that showcases your company’s strengths. Influencer partnerships can help you reach new audiences and establish trust with potential clients.

Example: Collaborate with a popular home design blogger or influencer to create a series of sponsored posts featuring your construction company’s work. The influencer’s endorsement can help you reach a wider audience and build trust among potential clients who value the influencer’s opinion.

Customer Relationship Management (CRM) for Construction Companies

Implement a CRM system to manage and nurture leads, track client interactions, and maintain relationships with existing clients. Choose a CRM software that aligns with your business needs and integrates with your other marketing tools. A well-managed CRM system can help you streamline your sales process and improve client satisfaction.

Example: Implement a CRM system like Salesforce or HubSpot to track all your leads, client interactions, and project statuses in one place. Use the CRM to send personalized follow-up emails, schedule appointments, and generate reports on your marketing and sales performance.

Reputation Management

Maintain a positive online reputation by monitoring and responding to online reviews and feedback. Address negative feedback promptly and professionally, demonstrating your commitment to customer satisfaction. Encourage satisfied clients to leave reviews on platforms like Google, Yelp, and Houzz to boost your online credibility.

Boosting SEO for Contractors

In today’s competitive market, contractors must have a solid marketing strategy to stand out. One of the most effective ways to do this is through search engine optimization (SEO). SEO can help your contracting business rank higher in search engine results pages (SERPs), making it easier for potential customers to find you online. This article will explore underutilized SEO techniques contractors can use to improve their online visibility and attract more business.

Local SEO

One of the essential things for contractors is to have a strong presence in local search results. This is because many people looking for contractors are searching for local businesses.

To improve your local SEO, you can:

Create a Google Business Profile listing: This is a free business listing that shows up on Google Maps and in local search results. Ensure your listing is up-to-date with your contact information, hours, and photos.

Optimize your website for local keywords: Use location-based keywords in your website content and meta tags to help search engines understand your business’s location.

Get listed in local directories: Look for local directories that list contractors and get your business listed in them. This can help improve your visibility in local search results.

Long-tail keywords

While using relevant keywords in your website content and meta tags is essential, using long-tail keywords is also vital. Long-tail keywords are more specific and targeted than broad keywords, making it easier for potential customers to find your business when searching for something specific. For example, instead of using the general keyword “contractor,” try using a more specific long-tail keyword such as “residential roofing contractor” or “bathroom renovation contractor.”

Content marketing

Creating quality content is another way to improve your SEO and attract more customers to your business. When creating content, ensure it is relevant to your audience and includes keywords your potential customers are searching for. Some ideas for content marketing for contractors include:

Blog posts about common contractor questions or DIY projects

Videos showcasing completed projects or explaining common problems and solutions

Infographics that explain complex topics or provide helpful tips

User experience

Another important factor for SEO is user experience (UX). UX refers to how easy it is for visitors to use and navigate your website. If your website is challenging to use or takes a long time to load, visitors may leave and go to another website. This can hurt your SEO because search engines look at factors like bounce rate and time on site to determine how relevant and useful your website is to users.

Some ways to improve UX on your website include:

Optimize your website for speed: Make sure your website loads quickly on desktop and mobile devices.

Ensure your website is easy to navigate: Use clear navigation menus and logically organize your content.

Make sure your website is mobile-friendly: Many people search for contractors on their mobile devices, so make sure your website is optimized for mobile users.

One great example of how effective SEO can be for contractors is the case of a general contractor who came to us with a limited online presence and few relevant keywords. They had a website that wasn’t optimized for search engines, and they weren’t getting much traffic or business from it.

We worked with the contractor to identify the keywords most relevant to their business and optimized their website accordingly. We also helped them create quality content tailored to their target audience and provided value to their potential customers.

As a result of our efforts, the general contractor saw a significant increase in their website traffic and inquiries from potential customers after just four months. They started ranking in position one on Google for many of the relevant keywords we identified, which helped them stand out from their competition and attract more business.

In conclusion, SEO is essential for contractors looking to grow their business and increase their online visibility. By focusing on local search, using long-tail keywords, creating quality content, and optimizing user experience, contractors can improve their search engine rankings and attract more business from potential customers. By working with a knowledgeable and experienced SEO team, contractors can achieve even greater success and stand out in their industry.

Never give out just one card, when you meet with a potential customer give them a few(so they can give to their friends), and when you finish the job give them a few more.
I have a friend that when he first became a Real estate agent and was going through new agent training he learned the two-foot rule, give your card to anyone within two feet. I watched him do this regularly while in social situations and listing after listing his business grew. So hand them out, post them on gas station bulletin boards, give a handful to your friends and family, and leave a trail of them where ever you go. Do anything but leave them in the box at the office, this is where they don’t work.

What helping your community will do is let you engage with others and build relationships and before long the community knows, likes, and trusts you. People do business with companies they know, like, and trust so it’s a win-win. Again you should be giving back to your community as an outstanding business member and this will spread your roots and make any other marketing you do more effective.

You can even have your episode transcribed and used for blog posts. Podcast guesting is one of my favorite ways to promote my company, and the only cost was around $60 for a Q2U USB microphone so I would sound good when promoting my business.
Reputation management has always been important to any construction company’s marketing. Still, with everything online, it may be the most essential piece to your puzzle, like the foundation is the most critical piece to a house.

Word of mouth (WOM) is what many contractors have, if not most, built their business off of WOM. Think of online reviews as today’s electronic – WOM (eWOM), where you have a distinct advantage over traditional WOM. Potential customers can go on their phone, look up your company on Google, and get organized, on-demand access to your eWOM.

At the time of writing this, almost all statistics state that about 90% of consumers check online reviews before making a purchase. Just think, 90% of your potential customers will search for your company’s eWOM. What will they learn about your company when they search? Do you have any reviews online? Who do you think the consumer will choose if you have few to no reviews and your competition has more?

So you have a few reviews online; now what? Getting reviews should be a main priority in your construction business; the more, the better, and don’t be afraid of negative reviews. In fact, some people consider a review profile to be more trustworthy with a few negative reviews because they know that everyone makes mistakes. How you respond to those negative reviews will tell potential customers a lot about your company, values, and culture.

How do you get (more) reviews? I hear this from many contractors I work with, and you know what I tell them is the most successful? Just Ask!

Ask your current and past customers if they can do you a favor and leave an honest review. You do need a place to send them to, like your Google Business Profile (GBP is the top review profile) or any review site where you have a business profile.

The top 7 review sites contractors Should have a business profile in 2023

Google Business Profile (formerly Google My Business) https://www.google.com/business/

Creating a Review Strategy

When looking at search results, many businesses do not know how to get online reviews. I know this because 73% of my customers have less than five reviews before working on a strategy.

Creating a review strategy can directly affect your yearly revenue and increase your hiring effectiveness. Here is what we have found works the best.

Three-Step Review Strategy

Setting up a review platform for your business is an important way of helping customers interact with your brand. To start, determine the most popular review sites relevant to your industry. These include Yelp, Google Reviews, Thumbtack, Houzz, Angie’s List, and other similar sites. Once you have identified the top sites for you, set up a profile on each platform and ensure all relevant contact information is included. This should include your business name, address, phone number, website, and any social media handles.

You must ensure that your Name, Address, and Phone (NAP) are EXACTLY the same in all directories. In addition to the contact information, ensure that your profile includes a description of your business, photos, and services offered. Additionally, link your review platform profiles to your website and social media accounts to make it easy for customers to find and access your reviews. Finally, encourage customers to leave reviews by simply asking. This way, you can ensure that you get the most out of your review platform and that customers can positively interact with your brand. Remember, it is NEVER ok to solicit only positive reviews. You have to take the good with the bad.
Suppressing negative reviews is Review Gating and should never be utilized.

Plan what you are going to say when you ask for a review. The easiest way to do this is to create a document. I like to use Google Docs and write up a couple of different asks. One can be for past customers that you have done more than 5 projects. Write one for current projects, and when they finish, you can send the ask to the customer. You might be thinking, what is the ask? You are asking for a review, so let’s refer to it as the ask.

An example email of an ask for when you are finishing up a project send them this note. Feel free to edit to suit your company and services.

Subject: Your Opinion Matters to Us!

Dear [Name],

We hope you had a great experience with our services. At [Company Name], we strive to provide the best customer service possible, and we’d love to hear your feedback.

Would you take a few minutes to leave us a review on [Review Platform]? Your honest opinion will help us improve our services and ensure we deliver the best work possible.

Thank you for your time and your business!

Sincerely, [Company Name]

Monitoring reviews on review sites is an essential part of managing customer relationships. By responding quickly and appropriately to both negative and positive reviews, your businesses can demonstrate that you care about customer feedback and are willing to take action to address problems.

This type of customer service can help your businesses build stronger relationships with their customers, attract new customers, and improve customer loyalty. Additionally, responding to reviews can help your business monitor their reputation, identify areas for improvement, and show that you value customer feedback.

By responding to reviews promptly and with a professional, helpful attitude, your businesses can show that you actively listen to customer feedback and are committed to providing a positive customer experience.

Online reviews can help your construction company in a variety of ways. Reviews can help your company gain more visibility in search engine results and provide potential customers with an insight into the quality of work your company offers. Reviews can also provide invaluable customer feedback, which can be used to improve processes and services. Finally, reviews can boost the public perception of your company, helping to establish trust among potential customers.

Online reputation management is an essential part of any construction business. It can affect your ability to attract new customers and employees and your capacity to increase profits. Whether you’re just starting in the construction business or you’ve been in the industry for years, it’s essential to know how to manage your online reputation.

In this guide, we’ll discuss the benefits of a positive online reputation, the importance of online reviews, why you need a Google business profile, local business citations, how to use social channels to boost your reputation, how PR can help your online reputation, and how to create an effective review strategy.

Benefits of a Positive Reputation Online

Having a positive online reputation can do a lot for your construction business. It can help you attract new customers, which in turn can lead to increased profits. It can also help you attract better employees who want to be associated with a reputable company. In addition, a positive online reputation can help you stand out from the competition and build lasting relationships with customers.

Importance of Online Reviews

Online reviews are an essential part of any business’s online reputation. They can influence potential customers’ decisions to hire your services or not. It’s critical to ensure you’re actively monitoring and responding to reviews to maintain a positive online reputation. Customers want to know that you’re listening and care about their opinion.

Why You Need a Google Business Profile

Having a Google business profile is essential for managing your online reputation. It’s a great way to showcase your business and ensure potential customers can find you online. Having a Google business profile lets customers leave reviews quickly, which can help you build trust with potential customers and help you stand out from the competition.

Local Business Citations, What They Are, and Why You Need Exact NAP

Local business citations are mentions of your business on other websites. They can include your business name, address, and phone number (NAP). An exact NAP is essential because it helps potential customers find your business more efficiently and helps search engines like Google and Bing index your website.

Using Social Channels to Boost Your Reputation

If you’re a contractor or local service provider, you know that generating leads can be challenging. But did you know that Google Ads can be a great way to generate leads? With Google Ads, you can target potential customers based on their location and the services they’re interested in. And since Google Ads is a pay-per-click advertising platform, you only pay when someone clicks on your ad. So if you’re looking for a way to generate more leads, Google Ads is a great option.

What are Google Ads?

Google Ads are a form of online advertising that allows businesses to reach potential customers across the Internet. Ads are displayed as text or image ads on Google search results pages and millions of other websites across the web.

Google Ads target people who have already shown an interest in what you’re selling. When someone searches for a term related to your product or service, your ad may appear next to the search results. Ads can also target people visiting specific websites or who have recently visited a website.

Google Ads can be a great way to reach more people with your message and to get more leads and sales. If you’re not already using Google Ads, it’s worth considering how ads can help your business grow.

How do Google Ads help contractors?

Google Ads is a form of online advertising that uses the Google Ad platform. Advertisers create ads, which are displayed on Google.com and millions of other websites across the web. When someone clicks on one of these ads, the advertiser pays to Google a predetermined amount of money.

What are the benefits to local service providers of using Google Ads?

There are many benefits to using Google Ads, including the ability to target a specific audience, reach a large number of people, and track the results of your ad campaign. Google Ads also allows you to control how much you spend on advertising so that you can budget your campaign appropriately. Additionally, Google Ads offers a wide range of ad formats, so you can create an ad most likely to appeal to your target audience.

How can contractors and local service providers use Google Ads to generate new leads?

Google Ads can be an excellent way for contractors and local service providers to generate new leads. By creating targeted ads, you can reach people who are already interested in what you have to offer. You can also use Google Ads to target specific demographics, interests, and locations.

When creating your ad, be sure to focus on the benefits of your services. Why should potential customers choose you? What makes you stand out from your competition? Use robust and persuasive language to get people to click on your ad.

You also need to make sure your website is ready to convert leads. Your landing page should be easy to navigate and clear about what people need to do to get in touch with you. If you can make contacting you easy, you’ll be more likely to convert leads into customers.

What are the best practices for creating and running Google Ads campaigns for contractors?

There are several best practices that you should follow when creating and running Google Ads campaigns. Here are some of the most important ones:

Start with a strong keyword strategy. When selecting keywords, target those that are relevant to your business and have high search volumes, not only volume but target keywords that have lower competition.

Create tightly themed ad groups. This will help you create ads relevant to the keywords in that group, and it will also help you measure the performance of those keywords more accurately. I refer to this as SKAG or Service to Keyword Ad Group.

Use relevant keywords in your ads. This will help improve your click-through rate (CTR) and help you qualify for Google’s ad extensions.

Write excellent ad copy. This is one of the most critical factors in determining the success of your campaigns. Make sure to test different versions of your ads to find the best converting ad copy.

Use negative keywords. This will help you to avoid spending money on ads that are not relevant to your business. For example, a residential roofer that installs only asphalt shingles would want to use negative keywords to avoid showing ads to people looking for other roofing types like metal or tile.

Optimize your campaigns for maximum efficiency. Use Google’s tools and features to help you achieve the best results.

Monitor your campaigns closely. Make sure to track the performance of your campaigns and make changes as needed. At the beginning of a campaign, it’s recommended to leave it alone for 2-4 weeks to gather data to make informed changes to your ad campaign. After the first couple of months, it is common to go in weekly to optimize your campaigns and make changes.

What are the most common mistakes contractors make with Google Ads campaigns?

Regarding Google Ads campaigns, contractors often make a few common mistakes. One of the most common mistakes is not having a clear goal for the campaign. With a goal, it can be easier to measure success and determine whether or not the campaign is meeting its objectives.

Another common mistake is not targeting the correct audience. Ads irrelevant to the audience are more likely to be ignored, which can result in wasted money. Targeting the right people with suitable ads is crucial to get the most out of your campaign.

Finally, another common mistake is not using ad extensions. Ad extensions can help to improve your click-through rate and help you to stand out from the competition. If you’re not using ad extensions, you’re missing out on a valuable opportunity to improve your campaign.

How can contractors and local service providers measure the success of their Google Ads campaigns?

Measuring the success of a Google Ads campaign can take time and effort. Still, there are a few key metrics that contractors and local service providers can use to get a sense of how well their campaign is performing. The click-through rate (CTR) is one of the most important metrics, as it measures how many people click on your ad after seeing it. The cost-per-click (CPC) is also essential, as it tells you how much you spend on each click. You may need to adjust your campaign if your CTR is low and your CPC is high. Other metrics to consider include conversion rate and cost-per-acquisition (CPA), both of which tell you how well your ads convert leads into customers. If you are still looking for the results you want, you may need to consult an expert Google Ads Manager.
